Profits at Numis, the City broker, fell by almost two-thirds over a six-month period as both its investment banking and trading businesses suffered from a cocktail of dour markets, regulation and Brexit.

Reporting its half-year earnings to March 31, Numis said profits were down 64% at £7.1m, while revenues slipped by 25% to £55.7m.
