NYSE flash crash reignites the circuit-breaker debate

Tensions between the New York exchange and the US regulator are growing over how to avoid a another sudden market fall

The New York Stock Exchange has reinstated its safety net against market volatility following a mini flash crash last month, renewing debate over the best way to prevent sudden price swings.

Since the first flash crash in May 2010, regulators have been arguing over the best method to contain the effects of rogue or erroneous orders.
