A longtime American International Group official is joining Oaktree Capital Group as the Los Angeles firm's first chief executive after being passed over for the top job at the insurance company.
Oaktree, which specialises in debt investing and acquiring controlling stakes in distressed companies, said Jay Wintrob will become CEO effective November 1. Wintrob, 57, has been on the board of Los Angeles-based Oaktree since 2011.
