Protesters force closure of St Paul's

The dean of St Paul's has said he has no choice but to close the cathedral because of the protest taking place in its churchyard

St Paul’s Cathedral has said it will close its doors for the first time in living memory because of the Occupy London protest in its churchyard.

The Right Reverend Graeme Knowles, dean of St Paul's Cathedral, said in a statement on Friday: "I have written an open letter to the protestors this afternoon advising them that we have no lawful alternative but to close St Paul's Cathedral until further notice."
