Odey Asset Management, the independent fund manager best known for its hedge fund offerings, is expanding its range of long-only products, bucking the trend of investment firms attempting to offset plunging equity markets by moving into the hedge fund arena.

It has launched a long-only fund, the Odey Pan-European fund, to be managed by Hugh Hendry, who is hoping to cash in on the exceptional performance of its Continental European fund.
