Old Mutual, the $468.8bn (€365bn) South African insurer, has allied its US businesses with the promotion of Scott Powers as its first chief executive for Old Mutual USA.

Powers will start his new appointment on July 1, expanding his current role as chief executive for the US asset management business to encompass responsibilities for both the US life and asset management businesses.
