High-profile equity capital markets and M&A partner James Palmer was elected to lead the corporate practice at UK law firm Herbert Smith in February, and will succeed incumbent Michael Walter on May 1.

Unlike Walter, however, Palmer will continue to spend more than three-quarters of his time working with clients, with the firm appointing fellow corporate partner Patrick Mitchell to the new role of global managing partner for corporate.
