Pandit favourite for Citigroup's top job

The head of Citigroup's newly-combined alternative investment and markets and banking unit has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Chuck Prince as chief executive of the Wall Street bank.

Vikram Pandit, the former Morgan Stanley banker and founder of hedge fund Old Lane, is among the candidates being considered by a four-member search committee to replace Prince, reports the New York Times.
