Paternoster rules out Truell-style acquisition

Mark Wood, chief executive of pensions buyout venture Paternoster, has called rival Edmund Truell's acquisition of the £3bn (€4.4bn) GEC Marconi scheme "a bold deal" but said his group has no plan to emulate it.

Pension Corporation, Truell's group, bid £398m yesterday to take control of Telent, the pension plan's sponsor, rather than acquiring the pension scheme itself.
