HSBC’s head of European renminbi business development has left the bank after 17 months in the role, at a time when banks and politicians in China and Europe continue their push to internationalise the Chinese currency.
Paul Gooding, the former head of HSBC's European credit trading business, was appointed to the London-based position in February 2012, charged with leading the bank's efforts to study the city's potential as an offshore renminbi trading hub. He left the bank in June, according to the UK's Financial Services Register.
