Pearl Group, the closed life funds consolidator backed by private equity firm TDR Capital, has recruited the former vice-chairman of JP Morgan Cazenove as it steps up mergers and acquisition activity.

Terry Eccles, who was also a leading financial services dealmaker, helped create the combined group's investment banking joint venture, acting as in-house adviser to JP Morgan ahead of the deal struck in February 2005.
