Pension schemes increase hedge

Watson Wyatt conducted a record number of hedge fund manager searches for its UK pension fund clients last year, an indication that after years of indecision the funds have started to put more money into alternatives.

The consulting firm conducted almost 30 searches on behalf of UK clients for hedge fund managers last year, compared with almost none in 2004. The searches were split equally between long/short equity and global tactical asset allocation.
