Pension surpluses cause concern for UK companies

More than half of UK companies are worried about generating surpluses in their pension funds they will be unable to reclaim because they are uncertain about the impact of new international accounting rules, according to consultants.

Accountants PricewaterhouseCoopers found 53% of respondents to its six-month survey of 200 companies were worried their pension surpluses could become "trapped".
