Pensions accounting change to affect UK local authority schemes

UK local authorities are set to apply FRS17, the new accounting standard that will put pensions on UK companies' balance sheets and may drive investors to replace equities with bonds.

The proposal has been made by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (Cipfa), which governs the way UK local authorities prepare their accounts.
