Pequot Capital to take aggressive positions in energy

Pequot Capital Management, the hedge fund manager and private equity company where former Credit Suisse First Boston chief executive John Mack has just been appointed chairman, has set up a trading desk to take aggressive positions in US utility and energy stocks.

The new unit is being led by David Frank, an equity trader who joined Pequot from Zimmer Lucas, a New York-based hedge fund manager which focuses on investing in the utility and energy sectors.
