Top buyout exec sounds competition warning

One of the most senior executives at the UK buyout firm Terra Firma warns that there is too much competition for deals and that this will hit returns

One of the top executives at UK buyout house Terra Firma has warned the vast amount of capital in the industry has led to excessive competition for deals, which has pushed up prices and will hit returns.

Peter Cornell, a managing director in charge of relationships with investors and regulators at Terra Firma, told executives at Private Equity News's annual advisory awards on Wednesday that they would have to learn to live with lower returns in the wake of the financial crisis.
