Pimco wins first UK local authority client

Pimco, the world's largest bond manager, has won its first UK local authority mandate, picking up a £44m (€62.8m) global bond brief from the £600m Shropshire County Pension fund.

The firm, which is majority owned by Allianz, the German insurance group, will manage the money against the Lehman Brothers Global Aggregate Index and will hedge back into sterling.
