Italian fund manager Pioneer Investments plans to open a new office in Amsterdam and has hired an executive from a rival US fund manager to help it target Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Pioneer has appointed Jillert Blom, formerly international account manager for the Benelux countries at Putnam Investments, to the role of institutional sales manager for the same countries.
