UK policymakers and the London Stock Exchange Group are at odds over the group’s future. The government is pushing the bourse to secure prized listings in a bid to revive the City. But LSEG is seeking more profitable businesses in data and analytics.

The exchange part of the group has been facing a drought in IPOs that is the worst in two decades, as well as a series of high-profile exits to New York. That has led to a laser focus on restarting London’s listings market, including a surge in remedies suggested by regulators and policymakers over the past year.
