In a bid to boost its global ambitions, Principal Financial, the Australia and US-based financial services organisation, has cranked up its UK operation as a bridgehead into Europe.

The establishment of Principal Capital Management Europe (PCME) is the first global asset management initiative since Principal bought BT Funds Management, the Australian-based money manager, in the disruptive public auction held by Deutsche Bank last August following its takeover of Bankers Trust.
