Private bank appoints former top politician as chairman

Düsseldorf-based private bank HSBC Trinkaus has appointed Friedrich Merz, the former chairman of Germany’s ruling party the Christian Democratic Union, to chairmanship of its supervisory board.

Merz replaces Otto Graf Lambsdorff, who died last December.
