A private banker aiming to take social investment mainstream has won an award recognising the good deeds of those working in the City.

Alexander Hoare, partner and director at C Hoare & Co, the oldest privately-owned bank in the UK, beat off competition from Michael Sherwood - until recently the co-head of Goldman Sachs in Europe - and Prem Goyal, who heads Global Markets Consultants, to scoop the 2017 Beacon Award for City Philanthropy.
