Private banking profits down 20%

Profits from private banking have dropped by an average 20% in the 12 months to mid-2003, as assets under management shrank by 2% and fresh investments from high net worth individuals plunged by almost 30%.

The figures, disclosed in HNW Business Benchmark, the latest survey of private banking research and consulting from Scorpio Partnership, indicate that the global wealth management industry is stabilising.
