Private banks battle for regions

Kleinwort Benson among banks to be hiring senior wealth managers outside of the capital

Private banks are bolstering their ranks in UK regions outside of London, with Kleinwort Benson becoming the latest in a string of wealth managers to appoint senior wealth managers outside of the capital.

Kleinwort Benson, which next month will be sold by parent Commerzbank to RHJ International, has hired Richard Stanwell as head of UK private bank Newbury office and will lead the wealth management practice in a region stretching from the Thames Valley into the West Country. He joins from Barclays Wealth, where for the last four years he was a senior private banker with a multi million book of HNW clients.
