Private credit glut will lead to consolidation, analysts say

Is Europe’s direct-lending market reaching saturation point?

A host of private credit providers sprang up to fill the financing gap when banks cut back on business lending after the global financial crisis. There are now more than 80 Europe-focused direct-lending firms, compared with just three in 2008, according to data firm Preqin. They range from small local players to global asset managers with European strategies.
