Behind the near $90bn raised in the first three months of the year was a stark regional disparity

The private equity industry added to its mountain of dry powder in the first three months of the year after firms raised a fresh $89 billion, FN's sister publication Private Equity News reports.

That the figure could rise to to $99 billion as more information becomes available, according to the data provider Preqin. That would make it the strongest first quarter for fundraising since the start of 2008.
