For the last fortnight, China has been celebrating the Year of the Tiger, a symbol of the country’s culture that is said to represent courage, bravery, competitiveness and confidence.

Private equity firms might well be hoping to channel those same qualities this year, as a business crackdown from authorities in Beijing raises questions for buyout shops with exposure to the world’s second largest economy.
