Private equity industry welcomes Myners' conclusions

Paul Myners' review of UK institutional investment called on the private equity industry and its representative body, the British Venture Capital Association, to step up its educational activity to encourage informed debate about the alternative asset class.

Myners has called for pension fund trustees, who make investment decisions, to be paid. He has also recommended greater communication across the industry, media, government and parliament, and increased transparency of fund results. These widespread recommendations, which include demands for independently audited valuation of investments, fall short of the compulsion that many had feared.
