As the new season of European football gets underway, private capital’s exposure to the industry has never seemed greater.

Some 36.5% of clubs in Europe’s ‘Big Five’ leagues have private equity, venture capital, or private debt participation, up from 35.7% two seasons ago. The majority of the clubs in the English Premier League now have PE, VC, or private debt participation.
