Profits soar at NYSE

The New York Stock Exchange has reported net profits of $22m (€18.3m) for the third quarter, more than 10 times than in the same period last year, despite a fall in trading fees.

The exchange said the results reflect restatement of financial earnings dating back to 2002, announced in the summer in the amended filing for its merger with Archipelago, the electronic stock exchange.
