Profits surge at Caisse d'Epargne

French savings bank Caisse d'Epargne, which is in exclusive talks to merge its investment banking and asset management divisions with rival Banque Populaire, said net profits last year rose 25% to €2.1bn ($2.5bn).

Revenues at Ixis Corporate and Investment Bank hit €2.7bn in its first full year as part of Caisse d'Epargne.
