Public reports £2.3m losses from Covid-19 scams since outbreak began

Almost 1,000 Covid-19 related scams and nearly 4,000 phishing attempts by criminals have been reported

Fraudsters may have stolen as much as £2.3m in the past 10 weeks through scams exploiting public fear over the spread of Covid-19, according to the latest tally of fraud reports from UK investigators. 

Almost 1,000 Covid-19 related scams and nearly 4,000 phishing attempts by criminals have been reported by members of the public to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, which is run by the City of London Police.
