QinetiQ, the private-equity backed UK defence research firm, is to delay its flotation for at least a year after agreeing its first two US deals in less than a week.

The firm has bought Westar Aerospace & Defense Group, a US-based information technology services contractor which works mainly for the US defence department, for £72.2m (€106m).
