Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, the primary political force behind the controversial Alternative Investment Fund Managers directive, has said he anticipates a compromise that will solve the problem of European Union investors being banned from investing in non-EU private equity and hedge funds.

Rasmussen, a former Prime Minister of Denmark who is President of the Party of European Socialists, explained his views on the record at a conference organised in London by Chatham House.
