RBC Capital Markets, the investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has made two senior hires to its European financial institutions group, as it further expands its coverage of the region at a time when banks there are looking to raise billions in funds.

Former Goldman Sachs banker Johnny Vo has joined RBC as a managing director with a focus on the European insurance sector. He was most recently co-head of European insurance equity research at Goldman Sachs in London, where he had worked since 2008. He had previously worked for Fox-Pitt Kelton and ABN Amro in London.
