RBC traders post 37% gain in volatile markets

The Canadian lender has reported sharp increases in revenue during the third quarter

Royal Bank of Canada’s trading unit posted a 37% gain during the third quarter, helping the bank beat analyst expectations as volatile markets continue to provide a boost to investment banks.

The Canadian lender unveiled revenue of nearly 2bn Canadian dollars ($1.44bn) for its global markets unit during in its results for the three months to 31 July, as both equities and fixed income jumped.
