RBC Capital Markets has shuffled the leadership of its team of bankers that advise private equity firms, poaching UBS's US head of financial sponsors, Matthew Stopnik, to become joint head of sponsors at the Canadian investment bank, according to people familiar with the matter.
Stopnik, who had spent around two decades at the Swiss bank, managed UBS's relationships with private equity firms including Apollo Global Management. He'll join RBC after three months of so-called gardening leave.
