The chief executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland is to be hauled in front of MPs after further damning details emerged of the state-owned bank’s treatment of small businesses.

The powerful Treasury Committee confirmed that Ross McEwan will appear alongside RBS chairman Sir Howard Davies at a hearing at the end of the month to answer questions about the lender's blighted Global Restructuring Group, which is the subject of an ongoing regulatory investigation.
