RBS hands Australian ABN mandate to Barclays adviser

Lazard, which advised Barclays on its failed merger with ABN Amro last year has been hired by the Dutch bank’s eventual buyer, Royal Bank of Scotland, to work on the potential sale of ABN Australia.

RBS has hired Lazard Carnegie Wylie, the Australian operation of Lazard, to look at options for ABN Amro Australia and New Zealand, which it inherited with its €72bn ($111bn) acquisition of the Dutch bank last year. RBS declined to comment.
