Royal Bank of Scotland has recruited David Bassett from Citigroup as global head of loan syndication as part of a drive to strengthen its franchise in the international loan markets.

Bassett was previously head of European loan distribution and trading at Citigroup. He was appointed to the role in April 2001 to replace Bill Fish, who left to join Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
