RBS results are the Rorschach test of financial punditry

What RBS numbers say is less important than how they are interpreted

Bank results contain so much information it is entirely possible to cherry pick numbers that back up almost any argument. That is particularly true of the mixed messages coming out of the markets division of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

It has become the financial industry's equivalent of the Rorschach inkblot test - what the numbers say is less important than how they are interpreted.
