Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is in talks to hire John Walsh, former global head of debt capital markets at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB), as part of a bid to ramp up its US bond business.

Senior banking and headhunting sources said Walsh, who has been out of the investment banking business since quitting CSFB a year ago, has been approached to lead efforts by RBS to establish a US credit franchise.
