Royal Bank of Scotland said Amsterdam will be the main base of operations for its trading unit in the European Union should UK banks lose passporting rights as a result of Brexit.

RBS, which today revealed its second profitable quarter on the bounce, said it was ensuring its banking licence in the Netherlands was "operationally ready" should the outcome of negotiations between the UK and Brussels "make it necessary".
