Record £10.6bn goes into bonds

Pension funds and insurance companies invested a record £10.6bn (€15.5bn) in UK government bonds in the second quarter as they tried to match their long-term liabilities.

Investment in UK sterling securities rose to £10.6bn from £7.2bn, according to the Office for National Statistics. This represents a 47% gain over the first three months and is the highest quarterly figure since records began in 1986.
