Rediscovering that small is beautiful

London's Alternative Investment Market has gained 43% since the start of last year

Small-cap stocks have given up ground in recent weeks but their growth compared to the rest of the market since 2002 remains impressive.

European smaller companies have risen in value by 38% since the start of last year, against a 16% rise in large caps, according to FTSE International. US small caps are up 41% against 25% and in the UK they are up 36% against 14% for large caps.
