Now entering its fifth year, the social mobility programme Investment 2020 has brought more than 1,000 new faces to the City of London. The new recruits have joined almost 30 of the City's largest firms, including Aviva Investors, Franklin Templeton and Standard Life Investments.

Financial News spoke to four young people who completed the year-long programme and went on to join the Square Mile's daily commuters. They shared their experiences of following an unexpected career path and gave advice for others considering doing the same.
