European exchange-traded fund providers could be forgiven for feeling some affection for regulators of late.

In February 2016 the European Commission confirmed the postponement of its review of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, giving fund managers an additional 12 months to prepare for regulation that most ETF participants feel will create a liberalised level playing field with mutual funds.
