Barclays chief executive Jes Staley will see his bonus cut as a result of his attempts to discover the identity of a whistleblower at the UK bank last year.

Barclays confirmed today that the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority were looking into an attempt made by Staley to unmask the author of a letter sent by a Barclays employee that was treated as a whistleblow.
