Regulators raise pressure on alternative investors

France's Autorité des Marchés Financiers has begun investigating possible links between private equity firms and some of Europe's estimated 55 activist investors, two weeks after the UK's Financial Services Authority warned activism could give rise to market abuse.

The AMF is looking into the possibility of activists colluding with buyout firms to put companies in play, according to a source close to the French regulator.
