Russian investment bank Renaissance Capital, which cut its London workforce by more than half in the year to the end of April, has made some of its first hires this year in the UK by boosting its sales team in the capital.

RenCap has appointed Berthold Maier as director of equity international sales, Michael Smith as director of direct market access international sales, and Gina Somerton as vice-president of international equity sales.
